Several residents unaccounted for after fire at Mass. apartments, reports say

Update: All residents of Chelsea apartment building accounted for after fire, reports say

Some residents of a Chelsea apartment building where a massive six-alarm fire broke out early Wednesday morning were still unaccounted for as of around 5:45 a.m., according to multiple reports.

At least one person was taken to a hospital following the fire at 185 Washington Ave. in Chelsea, WCVB-TV reported, citing Chelsea Fire Chief John Quatieri. Quatieri said firefighters have not yet been able to confirm that all residents of the building made it to a nearby shelter, according to Boston 25 News.

A section of the roof of the 18-unit apartment building collapsed, complicating efforts to account for everyone who may have been inside, WCVB-TV reported. The roof collapse has prevented firefighters from reaching the fourth floor, according to the station.

The fire was reported around 12:30 a.m., Boston 25 News reported. No firefighters were hurt in the response, according to 7News.

Roughly 45 to 50 people live inside the building, according to WCVB.
