Seasonable heat, humidity return Friday across Mass. after heavy rain, flooding

A day after heavy rain pummeled Massachusetts, causing floods and snarling travel on Thursday, Bay Staters can expect a return to a more normal weather pattern on Friday and through the weekend.

Temperatures on Friday are expected to rebound to the mid-to-high 80s, with humidity making it feel around 90. That said, it won’t be completely dry.

National Weather Service forecasters warned there is still a chance for some afternoon showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the interior. Those storms will struggle to become severe, but any that do form could dump heavy rain. No flash flooding is expected from the short-lived storms.

The forecast for Saturday looks much the same as Friday’s, with high temperatures moderating slightly, topping out in the low 80s in Eastern Massachusetts and mid-80s in the western part of the state. Some isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible in the interior, but they’re not expected to be severe.

The dry, warm conditions will continue Sunday, with the chance for afternoon to early evening storms in Western Massachusetts.

Monday brings a greater chance for showers and storms, but forecasters still don’t expect much of an impact.

“Wouldn`t rule out a stronger cell or two but thinking any storms would be more garden-variety than otherwise,” forecasters wrote.

Temperatures will get “quite a bit warmer” Tuesday through Thursday, with increasing humidity to boot. Expect temperatures in the high 80s to low 90s.
