Sabres score in final seconds, beat Bruins in overtime

BOSTON — The Bruins forced overtime this time, but still came out on the short end.

Alex Tuch scored a power-play goal with 10.6 left in overtime to give the Sabres a 3-2 win over Boston at TD Garden on Monday.

Boston was angry with the Marat Khusnutdinov tripping call that caused them to be short-handed in overtime as their winless streak extended to three games.

The Bruins (30-30-9) start a five-game road trip on Thursday at Vegas.

Peyton Krebs gave Buffalo an early lead on the power play, 4:19 into the game.

Jordan Greenway didn’t like Nikita Zadorov’s open-ice hit on Tage Thompson in the Boston end and the two 6-foot-6 players squared off for a fight.

The bout seemed to spark the Bruins. Morgan Geekie made a nice move to pull the puck out of traffic and set up Pavel Zacha for the tying goal with 7 minutes left.

Geekie then put the Bruins ahead with his 23rd goal of the season. Parker Wotherspoon eyeballed Geekie getting behind the Sabres defense of the hockey equivalent of a seam route. He threaded the pass to spring the breakaway.

Geekie put a nifty move on Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to make it 2-1 after the first.

Owen Power scored the only goal of the second period to tie the game.

Joonas Korpisalo made 28 saves for the Bruins including a dandy dive back across the crease stop on former Bruin Connor Clifton with 12:01 left to keep the game tied.
