A Boston hotel will transform into a big-top tent starting this week when a world-class circus returns to the city.
Do Portugal Circus will host daily performances at Courtyard by Marriott Boston Logan Airport in East Boston starting Friday, Nov. 7. Aerialists, jugglers, clowns, magicians, dancers and acrobats will entertain audiences until Sunday, Dec. 7.
“As a family-oriented circus, we pride ourselves on making our performances accessible and affordable for everyone,“ Do Portugal Circus’s Susan Vance said in a press release. “We aim to provide a memorable experience for all who attend, filled with thrills, excitement, and moments that families will cherish for a lifetime. The smiles and joy on our audiences’ faces motivate us every single day.”
The Portugal family began performing in circuses around Mexico in 1911. The circus did not premiere in the U.S. until 2019, and the last Boston performances were held in late 2024. Due to the success of last year, Do Portugal Circus decided to come back and give Boston another year of thrills.
Intended for people of all ages, Do Portugal Circus is emceed by Scottish born ringmaster Jodie Leith. Highlights include motorcyclists risking life and limb inside a “Globe of Death” and the slapstick humor of clowns. Do Portugal Circus does not use animals. Meanwhile attendees can chow down on several signature circus eats, such as hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, pickles, cotton candy, snow cones and more.
Do Portugal Circus will host its Boston shows at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, in addition to shows at 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturdays and 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sundays. Each performance is 1 hour and 45 minutes long with an intermission.
Tickets start at $20 and go up to VIP tickets for $60. Super-saver family and friends packs are available for $80 and $100 online only. Tickets can be purchased on the Do Portugal Circus website.
