BOSTON — As expected, an MRI revealed that the calf injury to Red Sox starter James Paxton is a pretty significant one.
Paxton has a partial tear of his right calf, he confirmed Tuesday, two days after leaving his start after just five pitches once he suffered the injury. He remains on crutches and with just 45 games left in the regular season, isn’t expected to rejoin Boston’s rotation by the end of the year.
