NEW YORK — Instant reactions from the Red Sox’ 11-7 win over the Yankees at Yankee Stadium on Sunday:
1) Carlos Narváez — who the Red Sox acquired in a trade with the Yankees at the Winter Meetings in December — blasted a go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning. His 372-foot shot to left field put Boston ahead 5-3. Narváez initially signed with the Yankees as a 16-year-old Venezuelan amateur catcher in 2015.
2) The Red Sox improved to 32-35 while the Yankees dropped to 39-25. Boston took the three-game series, 2-1.
3) Narváez’s three-run blast was part of a five-run sixth inning for Boston after the Yankees had gone ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning on DJ LeMahieu’s solo home run. He connected on a 94.6 mph four-seam fastball from Carlos Rodón.
4) Boston’s rally also included a Jarren Duran two-run single (110.2 mph) that made it 7-3.
5) Rookie Kristian Campbell entered with just two extra-base hits in his past 29 games (112 plate appearances) dating back to April 30. But he hit an opposite-field 349-foot two-run home run off Rodón in the fifth inning to tie the game 2-2.
6) Red Sox starter Hunter Dobbins went 5 innings and allowed three runs, four hits and no walks while striking out two.
7) Boston’s five-run sixth inning could have been extended had Rafael Devers hustled out a slow ground ball to second base. He slowed down and was thrown out at first base for the final out.
8) Abraham Toro — who had offers from only the Red Sox and Yankees as a free agent this past offseason — crushed a 391-foot, 104.3 mph solo home run to right field in the eighth to put Boston ahead 8-5. He also doubled twice.
9) Trevor Story — who has struggled to hit fastballs this season — connected on a 96.8 mph four-seam fastball from Jonathan Loáisiga and hit it over the short porch in right field (353 feet). He went back-to-back with Toro, making it 9-5 in the eighth.
10) The Red Sox return to Fenway Park to host a three-game series against the Rays beginning Monday. Righty Brayan Bello will pitch for Boston opposite Rays righty Shane Baz.
