David Sandlin had a week he won’t forget — again.
The Boston Red Sox prospect was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week on Monday. It’s the second time this season he’s earned the honor.
Sandlin, who plays for the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, tossed six no-hit innings in Portland’s combined no-hitter against the Akron RubberDucks on Sunday afternoon.
The right-hander struck out nine batters, tying his season high, and gave up three walks. He’s now 4-3 with a 3.90 ERA in 12 games for the Sea Dogs. Over his last five outings, the 24-year-old’s ERA is 2.48 and includes three scoreless innings.
The Red Sox acquired Sandlin in 2024 from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for reliever John Schreiber.
Sandlin is ranked as the Red Sox’ No. 11 prospect by Baseball America, and No. 9 by MLB Pipeline. His fastball has reached 101 mph, while Sandlin’s pitches also include a slider, curveball and changeup.
