Red Sox postseason, World Series odds: Boston long shot to win Fall Classic

The Boston Red Sox sit three games out of an American League Wild Card spot after winning two of three games against the Houston Astros in their latest series.

Prior to the trade deadline, Boston started to go on a bit of a run. But the team has struggled since and find themselves on the outside looking in with an uphill climb ahead of them for much of the rest of the 2024 season.

Beating the Astros and taking the series was big for the Red Sox, and they now go into their three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a lot of momentum on their side.

There’s still time to get back into postseason contention, though many sportsbooks have them as quite the long-shot to win the World Series. Here are some odds for the Red Sox to make the postseason.

The Red Sox will get reinforcements back soon enough, including Liam Hendriks who could really help the struggling bullpen. Trevor Story is also eyeing a return this season after undergoing shoulder surgery in April. Whether they turn out to be factors for Boston remains to be seen, but the duo should help in the lineup and in the bullpen as Boston tries to get back to the postseason for the first time since 2021.
