SAN FRANCISCO — At the end of March, the Red Sox made the surprising decision to have Kristian Campbell be part of the team’s Opening Day roster.
Just shy of the halfway mark of the season, however, they decided Thursday that he needed a “re-set” at Triple A. Needing a roster spot for the activation of outfielder Wilyer Abreu, the Red Sox optioned Campbell, the American League’s Rookie of the Month for March-April, to Worcester.
