Randy Moss stepping away from ESPN to battle health issue

Randy Moss will be away from ESPN for the foreseeable future as he deals with a health issue.

“Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating Countdown with his insight and passion,” ESPN said in a statement. “He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”

The legendary wide receiver addressed what was going on last week during Sunday NFL Countdown and revealed he was “dealing with something internally.” Moss didn’t elaborate what the health issue was, but noted he would be wearing tinted glasses throughout the show.

“I have some great doctors around me. Couldn’t miss the show, could wait to be here with you guys. I feel great, but if y’all see me with these ‘Michigan turnover glasses’ that I have on, it’s not being disrespectful because I’m on television, man,” Moss said last week. “I’m battling something and I need all the prayer warriors. God bless you all and thanks for the prayers.”

The 47-year-old spent four seasons with the New England Patriots and is a six-time Pro Bowler, has four First-team All-Pro selections and was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018. He’s been with ESPN since 2016.
