A band of rain is expected to move into parts of Massachusetts on Friday night ahead of chilly temperatures over the weekend.
The rain is projected to fall in southeastern parts of the state late Friday, according to National Weather Service forecasters. Most areas of the state will see cloudy skies overnight with temperatures in the 30s and lower 40s, though Central and Western Massachusetts should remain dry.
The rain showers will taper off by noon on Saturday, forecasters said. Skies are expected to clear statewide by the afternoon, though areas like Cape Cod and the Islands may not see much sunshine before nightfall.
High temperatures will reach the upper 40s with a few areas reaching the 50s, forecasters predict.
A major cooldown is projected on Saturday night, with temperatures dropping down into the 20s across most of the state — and some areas in Western and Central Massachusetts in the teens.
Eastern Massachusetts will remain slightly warmer, forecasters say, with lows merely in the low 30s.
Sunday will be dry and sunny statewide with temperatures in the upper 40s by the afternoon, though some spots in Western Massachusetts and areas in higher terrain may only be in the 30s.
Forecasters are eyeing the chance for rain showers early next week as temperatures are projected to stay in the 40s.
Rain is not yet in the forecast for Thanksgiving Day — but forecasters are still watching to see when the rain might end.
