Public school employee in Mass. charged with paying for sex with a child

A Fall River Public Schools employee has been arrested on charges including paying for sex with a child, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Millis resident Kevin Galloway, 71, pleaded not guilty to paying for sexual conduct with a child, enticement of a child under 16 and attempting to commit a crime during his arraignment in Brockton District Court on June 26, according to court records.

Troopers and Brockton police officers arrested Galloway on June 25 in the parking lot of a Brockton hotel, State Police said in an email. State Police declined to say how Galloway was identified as a suspect, but noted that the charges are not connected to the victimization of a child.

Galloway is “no longer employed by or affiliated with Fall River Public Schools in any capacity,” Fall River Public Schools Superintendent Tracy Curley said in a statement on Saturday.

“At this time, we have not received any reports indicating that the alleged conduct is in any way connected to the Fall River Public Schools,” the statement reads.

Galloway’s alleged crimes were not committed during school hours or on school property,” Curley said.

“We are deeply troubled by these allegations and understand the impact this may have on our school community,” the statement reads. “ … The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. We remain committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all students, and we will continue to take every step necessary to uphold the trust of our families and community.”

Galloway was released on personal recognizance bail with release conditions during his arraignment, according to court records. He is due back in court in August for a pretrial hearing.

It is unclear what Galloway’s position at Fall River Public Schools was. No further information has been released.
