Police say drunk driver hit 2 Mass. homes in van, fled from cops

A Hopkinton man received his second OUI charge after he was accused of driving drunkenly and smashing into two homes on Thursday afternoon, then fleeing from the scene, according to the Hopkinton Police and Fire Departments.

Stephen Murphy, 52, has been charged with second-offense operating under the influence of liquor, driving to endangered and two counts of leaving the scene of a property damage crash, officials said. He is expected to be arraigned on Friday in Framingham District Court.

It was nearly 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, when a 911 call came in to report a white van had hit two homes in the town a 75 and 77 Grove St., the officials said.
