Webster police are warning the public that they are getting more and more gun- and knife-related calls in recent weeks after responding to six such calls last week.
June 28
On June 28, Harrington Hospital called Webster police shortly before 10:40 a.m. to report that a patient had checked into the ER with several stab wounds, police said. Officers learned from the victim that they had been stabbed three times on Hartley Street by someone they knew.
Officers tried to find the suspect at an apartment, but were unsuccessful, police said. The suspect is expected to face charges at a later date, but as this was a domestic incident, no further information is being released.
June 29
On June 29, officers responded to a report of a fight on South Main Street shortly after 11:50 p.m., police said. At the scene, they found a female victim with minor injuries and learned that the suspects had run from the scene.
After checking the area for the suspects, officers spoke with the victim and learned that an argument had turned physical, police said. One suspect had pulled a large knife on the victim, and a second had hit her numerous times.
Officers were unable to locate the suspects, but the attack remains under investigation, police said.
Approximately 30 minutes later, officers responded to 28 Goddard St. for a report that a man was outside a multi-family apartment building threatening someone with a knife, police said. At the scene, officers learned that the alleged suspect had fled in a car with two others.
Officers soon found the car, pulled it over and searched the car and the suspects, police said. During a brief investigation, the parties involved gave conflicting stories. As a result, no arrests were made, but charges may be filed at a later date following further investigation into the incident.
July 3
On July 3, officers responded to an apartment at 17 Poland St. shortly before 11 a.m. for a report that a man had been stabbed, police said. At the scene, they found a victim with minor hand injuries.
After speaking to those involved in the incident and independent witnesses, a suspect was identified and charged, police said. They will be arraigned in Dudley District Court at a later date.
Later that day, around 2:30 p.m., officers and detectives responded to Wall Street for a report of a fight involving a knife, police said. While responding, they learned that the fight had been over money, and that a suspect had threatened to shoot someone before fleeing in a car. At the scene, they were unable to find anyone in the midst of a fight.
July 4
On July 4, officers responded to Clark Street shortly before 5:20 p.m. after receiving numerous 911 calls reporting a large fight involving a person with a handgun who was wearing a ski mask, police said. One of the callers reported that the person with the gun had threatened to shoot someone before running away towards Cutler Street.
Officers arrived at the scene and searched the area, but were unable to find the suspect, police said. They spoke with witnesses, who said they were attending a July 4 barbecue when the suspect arrived with a gun intending to shoot one of the guests.
The suspected target was uncooperative with officers, as this appeared to be a gang-related incident, police said. It remains under investigation.
