Police identify human remains found in N.Y. woods near Vt. border

Human remains that were found in a wooded area in Upstate New York have been tentatively identified.

The Saratoga Springs Police Department said Tuesday that a citizen called to report possible human remains found in the area of South Broadway and Adelphi Street on Saturday, Dec. 30. Personal property at the scene identified the victim as Paul Jamison, a 79-year-old man with a last known address in Glens Falls.

Police said an autopsy was conducted on Dec. 31 and preliminary reports show no signs of suspicious activity or a criminal aspect to his death. According to the Times Union, police believe Jamison was homeless at the time of his death.

DNA samples were taken to confirm Jamison’s identity.

New York State Police and the Saratoga County Coroner’s Office assisted Saratoga Springs Police with the investigation.
