Police ask public to help ID men involved in ‘prowler incidents’ in Boston and Brookline

Boston and Brookline police are asking the public to help identify men they say were involved in several “prowler incidents” in the two communities earlier this month.

Four of the incidents happened in Boston’s Brighton neighborhood in the area of Kilsyth Road between 12 and 1 a.m., Boston police said in a press release. These incidents took place on July 7, 12, 15 and 16, and e time, at least one suspect was seen in a resident’s backyard, then exiting onto Kilsyth or Colliston Road.

A similar incident that happened on Beacon Street in Brookline may be related to the Boston incidents, Brookline police said in a community alert on Wednesday. During the incident, a man followed a female victim on Ayr and Beacons Streets while repeatedly asking if she was lost.

The man continued to follow the victim even though she denied being lost, Brooklike police said. Eventually, she took refuge in a Beacon Street vestibule, and the man tried to follow her inside.

The photo below was taken of the man shortly after the victim entered the vestibule, Brookline police said.

Boston police have identified one suspect involved in the incidents, but believe up to two others may also be involved. At least one of the suspects was reported to have spoken Spanish, the police department said.

Both police departments are asking that anyone with information related to these incidents contact Boston police detectives at at (617) 343-4256. Anonymous tips can be shared with the police department by calling 1-800-494-TIPS, texting the word “TIP” to CRIME (27463) or on Boston police’s website.
