Pickle fans will want to know about two “big dill” festivals taking place in New England this year: the Connecticut Pickle Festival, and the Winchester New Hampshire Pickle Festival.
The Connecticut Pickle Festival, which bills itself as “New England’s largest pickle event of the year,” will take place at the Mohegan Sun Expo Center from July 25-27.
Guests who buy single-day tickets or weekend passes will gain access to a smorgasbord of themed foods, ranging from standard pickle fare — fried pickles, pickle pizza and dill pickle kettle corn — to adventurous dishes likes pickle shaved ice and pickle-topped ice cream. Attendees over the age of 21 can double down with pickle shots or pickle martinis.
The event’s “pickle patch” will also showcase pickle samples from across the country, and guests can expect performances from country, pop and rock musicians. A pickle eating contest is also listed as a “fan favorite” part of the schedule.
The Connecticut Pickle Festival offers both general admission and VIP tickets for individual days or the full weekend; prices range from $15.70 to $80.69 for single day passes, while three-day passes range from $51.39 to $101.39.
The Winchester New Hampshire Pickle Festival, on the other hand, is a free event that will take over Winchester’s Main Street on Sept. 27. The 27th annual rain-or-shine event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and has previously drawn over 5,000 guests.
While no schedule for 2025 is currently listed on the festival’s website, activities in past years have included a “pickle parade,” a pickle eating contest, live music, a farmers market and a canning contest.
New England isn’t home to the country’s only pickle festivals; downtown Pittsburgh will host a three-day “Picklesburgh” festival later this month, while the Rocket City Pickle Fest took place in Huntsville, Ala. last weekend, among many other dill-ightful annual events.
