FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Allen County Sheriff’s Department held a retirement party for four of its K-9 officers: Bo, Kody, Jinxx and Chaos, WPTA reported.
“It’s dog-gone time to relax … Congratulations, and thank you for your service to our department and community,” the department stated in the post. “We wish you the longest, healthiest, laziest retirement chasing squirrels instead of bad guys!”
Each K-9 officer received gifts celebrating their achievements. The department shared photos of the event on Facebook, accompanied by messages of gratitude and well-wishes for the dogs’ future, according to the report.
“I spend more time with him than my family,” said Jason Schmieman, who worked alongside his 8-year-old German shepherd K-9 Bo since 2016. “He’s with me at home, he’s with me on the job…Now he can be a real dog. He can lay at home and not do anything.”
