Person taken to hospital after shooting in Mass.

A person was taken to a hospital after being shot in Norwood Wednesday evening, police said.

Norwood police received multiple 911 calls around 5 p.m. Wednesday reporting shots fired near Columbine and Woodbine roads. Callers told police a vehicle was seen fleeing the area, Police Chief Christopher Padden said in a statement.

Arriving officers did not find any vehicles in the area. A short time later, another 911 caller reported there was a shooting victim in a vehicle at a gas station near Dean Street and Route 1, Padden said.

First responders provided aid to the person, who was taken to the hospital. A spokesman for the police department did not immediately respond to questions about their condition.

The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 781-440-5100.
