Patriots rival loses All-Pro defender, former BC Eagle to leg injury

UPDATE: Bills Coach Sean McDermott told reporters after the game that it “didn’t look good” for Matt Milano, who suffered a leg and knee injury in Buffalo’s London loss to the Jaguars.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Bills defense took another big blow on Sunday.

All-pro linebacker Matt Milano was carted to the locker room in the first quarter of Buffalo’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Milano was trying to get to quarterback Trevor Lawrence on third down when he got his leg tangled up in a pile of players.

He was initially helped off the field by the Bills training staff before he was carted to the locker room. The linebacker was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game.

NFL Network’s Jamie Erdahl reported that Milano had a full leg cast from his shin to his thigh after the injury.

Milano’s 2022 season was the best of his career that included 99 tackles, 11 passes defended and three interceptions. Those numbers helped the Boston College product earn his first Pro Bowl selection as well as first-team All-Pro honors.

The injury comes a week after Tre’Davious White tore his Achilles agains the Miami Dolphins. The Bills placed him on injured reserve, ending his season.

The Bills will visit the New England Patriots on Oct. 22 and the losses of White and Milano could help keep the AFC East wide open.
