Parts of Cape Cod and the Islands are expected to see snow Thursday night while the rest of the Bay State continues to deal with a cold spell that has left thick ice on sidewalks and roads.
Most of the snow will fall over Nantucket, where National Weather Service forecasters say they expect 2 to 3 inches to fall. Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard should see slightly less snow, with about 1 to 2 inches in the forecast. The snow could extend to coastal Plymouth County, which could see minor accumulations of a coating to an inch.
A map released by the weather service shows accumulations of less than an inch possible in the Berkshires as well.
The rest of the Bay State should see temperatures in the high 20s to low 30s on Thursday, with some areas climbing above freezing. Lows overnight will fall to the teens and low 20s.
Temperatures could climb slightly on Friday, with peak temperatures in the high 20s to mid-30s. It won’t be nearly as windy as the beginning of the week, but gusts are still expected to reach 25 to 35 mph.
The warming trend continues through the weekend into the start of the work week, with temperatures rising to the low to mid-40s Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
