WESTFIELD — May is Stroke Awareness Month. This year, The Westfield News talked to Chrissy Humason, Baystate Noble Hospital’s nursing supervisor and stroke coordinator, about her background, her work, and the risk factors and symptoms of a stroke.
Humason was originally a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the town of Otis. She then became a paramedic and training supervisor for the County Ambulance Service in Pittsfield. After graduating from Springfield College and her nursing program, she worked at Berkshire Medical Center’s emergency department in Pittsfield, then moved to Baystate Noble Hospital’s ER in 2015.
