For 14 years, the Northampton coffee shop The Roost has welcomed visitors and locals alike to the small Pioneer Valley city’s downtown from its home on the corner of Bridge and Market streets.
That run will come to an end this weekend.
The shop will close after business ends Sunday, its owners said on social media.
“Over the last 14 years, The Roost has been home to many first dates and more than one marriage proposal, countless poetry readings, paint-n-sips, and a few epic Karaoke nights,” a post from the business on Instagram read. “We’ve sold over 150,000 breakfast sandwiches and roughly a half million cups of coffee. Carole King popped in to sing ‘You’ve Got A Friend’ while stumping for Ed Markey. We hosted 14 New Year’s Eve parties, and celebrated every Pride Parade from our special spot on Market and Main Street.”
“Something new” for the location is on the horizon, the owners hinted, advising that updates would arrive in the coming weeks.
