Nationally-known author Andrew Leland, 43, is settling into his slice of life in Northampton. Depending on the time of day, lighting and angle, he can see six degrees of his world.
“It’s like looking through a porthole. I have severe tunnel vision, a couple of degrees of central vision. Within those degrees, I still have good acuity. Under the right conditions, I can see a whole lot, but if I’m walking from my house to the train station without the white cane, I’m going to trip over the fire hydrant, a dog or a curb,” Leland told The Republican.
