North Hall Arts Festival begins June 29 with ‘The Story Café’

The North Hall Association’s historic North Hall Arts Festival kicks off June 29 in Huntington with “The Story Café,” the first of seven free off. All events are held on Sundays at 2 p.m.

“The Story Café” celebrates the Pioneer Valley’s short story authors, combining the literary work of Ellen Barry, Emily Everett, Kim Keough, Barbara Lucey, Rick Paar and Christopher J. Sparks with the talents of local actors Ellen Barry, Raye Birk, Candace Barrett Birk, and Tosh Foerster.

Future events include:

• “Seeger, a Pete Seeger tribute by writer/performer Randy Noojin on July 13
• “A Smaller Place” on July 27 with a cast that includes the award-winning actress, Ellen Barry, and Broadway’s Book of Mormon star, P.J. Adzima
• Trio Mundo presenting “Mediterranean to the Caribbean” with violinist Robert Lehman, cellist Rebecca Hartka, and guitarist/composer Jose Lezcano on Aug. 3
• Meadow Flutes, a quartet of Lynn Winsor, Kim Figeuroa, Andrea Taupier and Nancy Miller classical, Celtic, popular, traditional and ecclesiastical styled on Aug. 24
• “Opera Arias and Broadway Musical Showcase, featuring tenor Antonio Abate, soprano Amy Orsulak and Jerome Tan on piano, on Sept. 7
• Old Country Road Band on Oct. 5

North Hall is located at 40 Searle Road in Huntington, MA and is wheelchair accessible and air conditioned. All performances are free, though donations are welcome. Program updates can be found at www.northhallhuntington.org.

Gov’t Mule

Tickets are on sale now to see Gov’t Mule, an American southern rock jam band, playing at The Big E Arena on Friday, Sept. 12, at 7:30 p.m. as part of their Back in the Saddle Tour. Tickets and VIP packages are on sale this Friday, June 20, at 10am ET on TheBigE.com.

Shakespeare Festival

Capital Classics Theatre Company announced the complete lineup of activities and entertainment for the two productions that will comprise the 2025 Greater Hartford Shakespeare Festival. Shakespeare’s romantic comedy “Twelfth Night” and tragedy “King Lear” will run in rotation July 9 and run through Aug. 3, outdoors on the campus of the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford. In the event of inclement weather, the production moves inside the university’s Bruyette Atheneum.

Performances are Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30pm with Sunday performances occurring at 5:30pm. Tickets are $25 for general admission to Twelfth Night or King Lear; $20 if you purchase tickets to both shows or if you are a USJ alum. Senior, student, military and group discounts are $17 for one production; $15 if you book for both productions. Youth 11 and younger are free. The repertory performance schedule and tickets are now available at CapitalClassics.org.

Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnics.

Album re-release

The acclaimed Northampton band Winterpills have announced the re-issue of their eponymous debut album. “Winterpills (20th Anniversary Edition)” will be released on July 11th via Signature Sounds. The album has been remastered with the addition of two new bonus tracks, “Everybody Gets High” and “Looking Down” (Flora’s version).
