
WESTFIELD – No. 2 Westfield Technical Academy jumped out to an early 3-1 lead against No. 7 Easthampton in the Pioneer Valley Interscholastic Athletic Conference Class C baseball quarterfinals, blew the game open with a six-run fourth inning, and cruised to a 9-1 victory May 21 at Bullens Field.
Cam Witczak (walk, two runs, three RBIs, two stolen bases), Ben Harrington (double, two RBIs), and Lucas Cummings (walk, run) had the lone hits for Westfield Tech. Tigers’ Antonio Simpson and Josiah Pouliot scored two runs apiece. Josh McDonald and Josh Elmer also each crossed home plate.
Simpson tossed a complete game, scattering five hits, one walk, and one run, while striking out five batters.
Westfield Tech (15-2) advances to play third-seeded Greenfield (12-7) in the PVIAC Class C baseball semifinals May 25 at Bullens Field at 1 p.m.
