Nine WFD paramedics recognized by Mercy Medical Center for the ‘complicated’ delivery of twins

WESTFIELD — On Thursday, nine Westfield Fire Department paramedics were recognized for their outstanding service and contributions by Mercy Medical Center for delivering a set of twins in the home of the expectant mother after a family member called 911 for help less than two weeks ago.

“We’re very proud of the work they did that day,” said Westfield Deputy Chief Eric Bishop about the nine honored on Thursday with a Medical Director’s Award and challenge coin “for excellent patient care on a stressful and high acuity call” at the department’s headquarters on Broad Street.
