Sunday night felt great, didn’t it?
The Patriots were back in prime time, facing a superstar quarterback and the game came right down the wire, with a clutch field goal to wrap up a 23-20 victory over the Super Bowl favorite Buffalo Bills.
It felt like old times as we learned that the Patriots (3-2) led by Mike Vrabel, Drake Maye, Christian Gonzalez and Milton Williams can beat an excellent opponent.
As Patriots columnist Karen Guregian wrote following the game, “Sunday night’s stunning 23-20 upset of the Buffalo Bills not only backed Vrabel’s words, but also put the 2025 Patriots back on the map. … It cast them in a new light. They’re no longer a doormat. They’re a team to be reckoned with and not taken lightly by teams considered among the elite.”
In Week 6, we’ll see if they can handle success as they head to New Orleans to take on the lowly Saints (1-4).
Every week, a member of the MassLive sports department will pick the result of the upcoming Patriots game, and I’m tasked for this Week 6 contest.

While the Patriots are coming off a very successful Week 5, I certainly am not. After a decent (for me) first four weeks of picking 68 percent winners, the wheels fell off and I went just 4-10 in Week 5. I suppose it was my fault for backing the Browns, Dolphins and Giants (yikes).
While I look to bounce back, the Patriots aim to avoid a letdown as they enter a part of their schedule ripe for a winning streak.
I’m banking on it happening. And big.
Final score prediction: Patriots 35, Saints 14. … We’re back, baby!
