Terry Bradshaw doesn’t want Aaron Rodgers on the Pittsburgh Steelers, that much is clear.
In a recent radio interview, the Hall of Fame quarterback tore into the Steelers and how they’ve handled their quarterback situation. With no clear plan in sight, Pittsburgh has been a projected landing spot for Rodgers this offseason. Bradshaw isn’t happy about it.
“That’s a joke. That is, to me, just a joke,” Bradshaw said Tuesday on 103.7 The Buzz in Arkansas. “What are you going to do, bring him in for one year? Are you kidding me? That guy needs to stay in California, go somewhere and chew on bark and whisper to the gods out there.”
The 41-year-old Rodgers was released by the New York Jets earlier this offseason and remains a free agent. Since then, he’s been heavily linked to the Steelers, who lost both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in free agency.
Hall of Famer Dan Hampton, who was also part of the interview, said that he’s heard that it’s just “a matter of time” before Rodgers signs with the Steelers.
“I heard the same thing, Dan. I just don’t want to believe it,” Bradshaw replied.
The 76-year-old Bradshaw is a Steelers legend, having led the franchise to four Super Bowl wins in the 70s. Nowadays, he’s best known for his role as a longtime analyst on the “Fox NFL Sunday” pregame show.
Bradshaw remains a well-known entity across the NFL. Still, he said that he had to go up and introduce himself to Rodgers when they first met. Apparently, it was not a warm greeting.
“You walk in there and you get in his presence and you feel like it’s gonna start snowing,” Bradshaw said, drawing a laugh.
This offseason could end with the Jets and Steelers essentially swapping quarterbacks. New York brought in Fields after one season with Pittsburgh. The Steelers could then add Rodgers after his two-year tenure with the Jets.
