The Celtics are back in the NBA Finals for the second time in three years after sweeping the Indiana Pacers in four games on Monday night with a 105-102 victory in Game 4. Boston does not know yet who their NBA Finals will be but the team’s schedule for their matchup against the Mavericks or Wolves is set in stone.
Boston will get nine days of rest before hosting Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday June 6 at TD Garden. It will be the first time that Boston has had homecourt advantage in the NBA Finals since their championship run in 2008.
The series will be stretched out over two weeks with two off days between every game except for Game 3 and 4. That extra rest could bode well for the looming return of Kristaps Porzingis who has missed 10 straight games with a right calf strain. The veteran center has been sidelined since May 1st but was targeting a return during the Eastern Conference Finals before the Celtics prompt sweep of the Pacers.

The Celtics swept their season series against the Mavericks, winning both games by double digits. However, the Mavericks have vastly improved over the last several weeks since those matchups after better integrating their new trade additions in Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington. Boston and Minnesota split their season series, which included an early season overtime loss in Minnesota for Boston along with a fourth quarter comeback win at TD Garden.
