My fitness business closed, but it did not fail (Guest Commentary)

In May of 2013 I stood proudly in the entrance of my business to cut the ribbon for its grand opening. Along with me were my proud mother and father, then-girlfriend, former Mayor Dan Knapik and state Sen. Don Humason on the big day for Dynamic Fitness. I will keep the picture of that day for as long as I live, as it was the start of something very special.

I’m no geezer at 38, but at 27 I was a missile of energy and brought that towards my training. I hustled most of my clients from my previous place of employment with the promise I would provide a better and more private place for training. I was quite fortunate to be given the opportunity to inherit a retiring trainer’s (Anette Grace) clients, as well.

By the summer of 2013, I was off to a great start. I offered 45-minute training sessions on a pay-as-you-go system. I trusted in my skill set and didn’t make anyone sign contracts of financial commitment.
