Music legend cancels shows due to health before upcoming Mass. performance

Country music legend Willie Nelson had to cancel several concert appearances more than a week before the musician is expected to perform in Massachusetts.

Representatives for Nelson, 91, announced Friday that he would not be performing at the first few dates of his Outlaw Music Festival tour due to an unspecified health issue.

“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days,” a statement posted to X Friday, June 21 read. “He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”

On Sunday, Nelson’s representative released a statement, stating, “Willie will be fine. I live in Los Angeles and will fly next week to see the performances on the East Coast. I can’t wait,” according to Fox News.

Nelson is expected to be back on stage in time for his June 26 show in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The Outlaw Music Festival is scheduled to come to the Xfinity Center in Mansfield on Tuesday, July 2, with performances by Nelson, Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Celisse and more.

More information about the festival can be found online.
