Motorcyclist accused of pointing gun at driver in Hingham road rage incident

A motorcyclist pointed a gun at a driver while in traffic in Hingham on Thursday afternoon in what police called a road rage incident.

Around 3 p.m. on June 19, a man driving east on Route 3A saw a motorcyclist weaving through traffic, passing cars heading in the same direction, according to the Hingham Police Department.

Once they were stopped in traffic, the man driving the car honked his horn at the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist “made hand gestures” back at the driver, police said.

The driver moved his car forward and the motorcyclist took a gun from his waistband, then pointed it at the driver’s windshield, police said. He put the gun back in a holster in his waistband before turning into the Hingham Shipyard.

The driver of the car called 911, and Hingham police officers who were nearby spotted a motorcycle parked behind a business on Shipyard Drive. The motorcyclist, who worked at the business, was found inside, and police said his registered handgun was in a bin where employees leave personal belongings.

The motorcyclist was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, improper storage of a firearm and disorderly conduct. He was released after posting $1,500 cash bail for his arraignment at Hingham District Court on June 20.
