Stefon Diggs finally found the end zone in Week 8 in the Patriots’ blowout win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon.
The wide receiver connected with Drake Maye for a 1-yard touchdown on third-and-goal to extend New England’s lead over Cleveland in the third quarter.
“Really enjoy being around him every day,” coach Mike Vrabel said after the game. “His energy, communication, his willingness to learn and play and figure out what it is that we need from him, each and every week there’s been an energy.
“He’s practiced when we need him to practice, and we’re going to have to start taking care of some of these veteran guys,” he continued. “But highly competitive. He’s vocal, he cares, he’s a great teammate. He’s been really good for that position and some of the younger guys’ development. So I’m happy to be able to get him in the end zone. It was long overdue.”
Diggs was also happy with his first score. He celebrated in the end zone with his teammates and jumped on Maye’s back before running to the sideline before he celebrated with Vrabel.
Diggs has been a welcome addition to the offense since signing with the Patriots in the offseason. He’s continued to build chemistry with Maye since Week 1 and will look to carry that momentum over into Week 9 when New England hosts the Atlanta Falcons.
