The Apponequet Lakers host the Middleborough Sachems in a season-opening matchup in Lakeville. Apponequet junior quarterback Paxton Canessa returns for his second year at the helm of the offense under head coach Zane Fyfe. On the opposite sideline, Middleborough head coach Patrick Kingman will rely on senior signal-caller Colten Ward to lead the Sachems’ attack. Last year’s head-to-head saw Middleborough edge visiting Apponequet, 14-7, in a defensive battle. The Lakers finished 4-6 and the Sachems went 3-8 as neither program qualified for the playoffs in 2024. Opening kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. CT on Friday, September 5 with a live TV broadcast on NFHS Network.
