Former Massachusetts State Police trooper Michael Proctor will speak in a two-hour special on Dateline NBC in reaction to the second murder trial of Karen Read on Thursday evening.
The trial ended with the 45-year-old being acquitted on all but a misdemeanor operating under the influence charge Wednesday afternoon.
Proctor was the lead investigator into the death of Read’s boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, and sent several degrading text messages about her, including joking about going through her phone for naked pictures.
The broadcast focuses on the trial, testimonies and the accusations made against Proctor, namely that he framed Read and planted evidence.
“I laugh because it’s such a ridiculous accusation. There’s not one piece of evidence or fact to support that, because it did not happen. I would never do something like that,” Proctor said in an excerpt of the interview.
He denies during the interview of cracking Read’s taillight or framing her.
Proctor speaks with Dateline NBC’s correspondent Andrea Canning. Canning also talks with Proctor’s wife, Elizabeth.
The special will air at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday. To watch, click here.
