Jack Jones is coming back to the AFC East.
The former Patriots cornerback has signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins. Undeniably talented, New England drafted Jones in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but he only lasted a season and a half in Foxborough.
Jones fell to the fourth round because of character concerns that plagued him throughout college, and he struggled to stay out of trouble with the Patriots.
The cornerback was suspended to conclude his rookie season because Bill Belichick was displeased with his injury rehab, and the following offseason Jones was arrested for bringing guns to Logan Airport. In his second season, Jones was benched for missing curfew, and then amidst more friction with the coaching staff, he was cut in November of 2023.
Jones caught on with the Raiders and his former coach Antonio Pierce for the next remainder of 2023 and 2024, but Pierce was fired in January and Jones was released in April.
A ballhawking corner, Jones has seven interceptions in 42 career games, and boasts pick-sixes of Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, and Joe Burrow.
Of New England’s 10-player 2022 draft class, only Cole Strange and Marcus Jones are still with the Patriots.
