A pair of MBTA Commuter Rail trains shuttling passengers from the South Shore to Boston early Thursday morning were delayed after an Amazon delivery driver took a wrong turn and wound up on the train tracks.

Cohasset Police reported the mishap around 6:30 a.m. Thursday. The driver wound up on the train tracks at North Main Street near the Hingham line, police wrote on Facebook, warning that trains would be delayed until the tracks could be cleared.

In a photo posted to social media, a white Nissan Altima can be seen straddling the train tracks. The car was eventually towed away, allowing trains to resume their routes around 7:30 a.m.

The mishap affected two trains Thursday morning — the 6:10 a.m. departing Greenbush station in Scituate and the 6:55 a.m. departing from that station. Both trains were headed to South Station in Boston.

The 6:10 a.m. train was operating about an hour behind schedule as of 7:30 a.m., while the 6:55 a.m. train was operating 20 to 30 minutes behind schedule, according to the MBTA.
