Massachusetts teens crash stolen car during police pursuit, police say

Five teenagers suspected of shoplifting were arrested in Medford on Thursday after they led police on a chase and crashed through a residential fence, authorities said.

Around 11 a.m., the Medford Emergency Communications Center got a call from Dick’s Sporting Goods, located at 3850 Mystic Valley Parkway, about a shoplifting incident, Medford police stated. An employee from the store said that the teenagers had fled in a vehicle toward Riverside Avenue. They also provided police with a license plate.

Dispatchers confirmed that the vehicle the teenagers fled in was stolen from Belmont earlier Thursday morning, Medford police stated. While responding to the incident, police saw the vehicle on Riverside Avenue and attempted to pull the car over.
