Massachusetts employers optimistic, but Western Mass. lags

SPRINGFIELD — More Massachusetts businesses see an economic “soft landing,” according to new survey results from Associated Industries of Massachusetts.

The AIM Business Confidence Index gained 1.6 points to 52.6 in December. That’s a nine-month high that left it in optimistic territory — anything greater than 50 points is optimistic — at year-end. The index was 1.4 points lower than the same time last year.
