
An overnight downpour will give way to scattered rains and high winds across Massachusetts on Friday.
A high wind warning has been issued for the eastern part of the state, as gusts of up to 60 mph are set to hit Boston. The warning is in effect from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, with the National Weather Service predicting that sustained winds of 25 to 35 will sweep through Boston and Cape Cod & the Islands.
The National Weather Service cautions that the sustained winds will blow down trees and power lines, potentially resulting in power outages.
Temperatures in Boston will reach the upper 50s, while Central Massachusetts will see a high of 57 and Western Massachusetts will linger in the low 50s.
The very western part of the state is also under a high wind warning, with gusts of 59 mph expected in the Berkshires.
Precipitation will continue through most of the state, with afternoon rain in Central and Western Massachusetts expected until 4 p.m., and then scattered showers through the night.
Boston will see rain with a possibility of thunderstorms, with precipitation petering out after 9 p.m.
Saturday will see skies clear up across the state as temperatures drop to the 30s during the day.
