Most of Massachusetts will see temperatures in the mid 30s again on Friday, marking the third straight day of above-freezing conditions for parts of the state.
Boston will breach 32 degrees around noon and stay above freezing until 6 p.m., with an abundance of sunshine making it feel even warmer, according to the National Weather Service. Worcester will hit a high of 34 degrees in the afternoon, while Springfield will get up to 35 degrees and Cape Cod & the Islands will touch 33 degrees. The Berkshires will remain a bit cooler, with Pittsfield hitting a high of 27 degrees.
Overnight temperatures will settle in the low 20s to mid teens for most of the state, and the weekend will bring more of the same, with above-freezing afternoons and chilly nights, with little chance of precipitation in the forecast.
The big news is the string of 40-degree days in the forecast for next week. Boston is set to hit 40 degrees on Monday, then 45 degrees on Tuesday, 44 on Wednesday and 41 on Thursday, with plenty of sun and mostly clear skies. National Weather Service forecasts are similar for Central and Western Massachusetts, meaning there could be some significant thawing of accumulated snow and ice.
