Sunny, moderate weather at the start of this week is expected to take a turn as a storm system with heavy rain and strong winds reaches Massachusetts just before the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Overnight lows in the teens to low 20s Monday night are predicted to give way to highs in the low to mid 30s and clear skies on Tuesday, according to the weather service. Tuesday night is expected to see low temperatures in the 20s across the state, before Wednesday brings warmer weather with highs in the mid 40s and mostly sunny skies.
Following overnight lows in the 20s Wednesday night, higher temperatures and largely clear skies are predicted to continue Thursday, with highs in the upper 40s and low 50s, according to the weather service. The storm system is expected to hit Massachusetts Thursday evening.
The western part of the state is predicted to see rain first, around 7 p.m., while central and eastern areas are expected to experience precipitation around 9 or 10 p.m., according to the weather service. Communities further east and along the coast could see 20+ mph winds with gusts over 50 mph.
Overnight low temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s are predicted to rise into the mid 50s during the day on Friday, according to the weather service. The rain is expected to continue across Massachusetts until the early afternoon.
