
The weekend will start out cold and dry across Massachusetts, with below-freezing temperatures on Friday and Saturday before Sunday brings a chance of snow in parts of the state.
After snow squalls moved across the state Thursday, leaving several inches in most regions, Friday will see sun and high temperatures in the 20s, with calm winds for most of the day, according to the National Weather Service.
Boston and Cape Cod & the Islands will see a high temperature of 28 in the afternoon, while Boston and Springfield will get into the mid 20s. Pittsfield and the Berkshires will top out around 20 degrees. Overnight temperatures will drop into the teens, and gusts of up to 20 mph will drive the wind chill value near zero, according to the National Weather Service.
Saturday is lining up for more of the same, while Sunday could bring light snow beginning in the early morning hours. In Boston and coastal areas, snowfall could begin around 1 a.m. Sunday morning and continue into the afternoon. In Worcester and Springfield, snow could begin around midnight and fall until 8 a.m. Pittsfield could see snow starting at 1 a.m. and continuing to 3 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, that Sunday snow activity is trending toward light accumulation.
