Mass. weather: Breezy Saturday morning to turn cold during the night

Massachusetts residents will face some breezy conditions Saturday, with temperatures expected to reach the mid 50s, according to the National Weather Service.

Wind gusts are expected to reach 30 to 40 mph in places at higher elevation areas such as the Berkshires and the Worcester Hills. The Cape and Islands could see gusts reach 40 to 50 mph this morning, according to forecasters.

As the day goes on, however, the winds are expected to calm down, with gusts of 25-35 mph throughout Massachusetts and gusts up to 40 mph on the Cape and Islands this afternoon.

The state will experience dry conditions today under partly cloudy skies, with more clouds likely to appear over the Berkshires and the Worcester Hills. Temperatures in the Bay State are expected to reach the mid 50s on Saturday, though Springfield and the Berkshires could see temperatures only reach the upper 40s.

Winds will continue to die down on Saturday night, with gusts as fast as 23 mph, according to the National Weather Service’s seven-day-forecast.

Central and Western Massachusetts will see temperatures drop into the upper 20s while the rest of the state will see temperatures in the 30s.

Come Sunday, forecasters expect light northwest winds, temperatures in the high 40s at higher elevations in Western Massachusetts and temperatures in the low to mid 50s in Southern Massachusetts and the Boston metropolitan area.
