Most areas of Massachusetts will enjoy the warmest afternoon in more than a week, as Tuesday ushers in above-freezing temperatures for the first time since Jan. 23.
Boston and Worcester will reach a high of 33 degrees in the afternoon, with sunny skies helping to melt some of the accumulated snow that has piled up on streets and sidewalks.
Cape Cod & the Islands and Springfield will get up to 32 degrees, while Pittsfield will hit a high of 26 degrees in the afternoon.
Overnight lows will dip to 10 degrees in Boston and single digits in Central and Western Massachusetts before Wednesday brings temps around 30 degrees again. The National Weather Service forecast calls for that pattern to continue through the week until Saturday night, when temperatures are expected to plunge again due to an arctic front bringing high winds.
Wind chill values could reach minus 30 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, which would be the coldest of the season.
