Mass. man who fled to Mexico is convicted of rape

A Massachusetts man wasn’t in the room when a jury found him guilty of rape and intimidation of a witness on Wednesday.

On Nov. 11, before the end of the trail, Cesar Lagunas, 51, fled to Mexico, the Berkshire County District Attorney’s office said. However, the judge determined that the trial could continue.

On April 15, 2019, Lagunas, who formally lived in Pittsfield, raped a person and then blackmailed them to get them to not report the rape.
