Mass. man charged with murder in connection with Halloween night stabbing of 68-year-old

A 70-year-old man is facing a murder charge in connection with the fatal stabbing of another man on Halloween night in Brockton, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said.

Tyrone Henderson will be arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court on charges of murder and failure to register as a sex offender, Cruz’s office said in a statement posted to X. The stabbing appears to be targeted, according to Cruz.

On Friday at around 9:53 p.m., Brockton police responded to a call for a stabbing inside an apartment at 46 Spring St. There, first responders found a man with stab wounds to his neck, chest and leg. The 68-year-old, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the statement.

Henderson was taken into custody at the scene, Cruz’s office said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine a cause and manner of death for the 68-year-old man.

“The investigation is ongoing, but this was not a random act of violence, and there is no threat to public safety,” Cruz said.
