Mass. man charged after police say he used stolen debit cards wearing Grinch pajamas

It’s the Brockton man, who police say, stole Christmas. He’s accused of stealing debit cards and breaking into several vehicles in Stoughton, all while wearing green Grinch pajamas.

Police got an arrest warrant for Elvis Andrade, 32, on several charges related to a series of vehicle break-ins and credit card thefts in Stoughton, according to the Stoughton Police Department. He was identified on Dec. 13 and police are looking for him. He is wanted on five active arrest warrants.

Andrade is charged with larceny over $1,200, improper use of a credit card over $1,200, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, breaking and entering into a vehicle during the daytime with intent to commit a felony (eight counts), larceny under $1,200 (four counts), improper use of a credit card under $1,200 (two counts) and malicious destruction of property under $1,200, police said.

Police said they went to an apartment complex on Buckley Road at around 10:43 a.m. on Dec. 11 after they received a report about a vehicle that was broken into overnight.

A Stoughton resident told the police their wallet was stolen from the car, police said. The person’s debit card was used at CVS and Speedway, which were both in Brockton.

There was another vehicle break-in at the apartment complex on Dec. 4, police said. A person said that their wallet was stolen and their debit card was used at a CVS.

Surveillance video showed a man wearing Grinch pajamas — later identified as Andrade — using a debit card stolen in Stoughton, police said. The same man was suspected of vehicle theft and credit card fraud at a Walmart in Avon.

Andrade was also linked to a vehicle theft on Dec. 1, another vehicle break-in and a credit card fraud on Dec. 4 and a vehicle theft on Dec. 9, police said.

Police asked that anyone with information about Andrade’s whereabouts to call Stoughton Police at 781-344-2424.
