Jerod Mayo has been a lightning rod of debate this year. From the New England Patriots‘ struggles on the field to gaffes at press conferences, Mayo has sparked plenty of arguments across the region.
But we’re not talking about football. We’re here to get into Mayo’s taste in holiday movies.
“I’m a huge ‘Home Alone’ guy. That was during my time,” Mayo said Tuesday. “Then the big debate or back and forth, is ‘Die Hard’ a Christmas movie? And I say it is.”
The 1988 action movie starring Bruce Willis is the subject of a popular debate around the holidays. “Die Hard” takes place around Christmas time and references the holiday pretty often. It’s become a popular trend online to suggest that it qualifies as a “Christmas movie.”
But the movie came out in July of 1988 and doesn’t really feature much in terms of Santa Claus, gift-giving or any religious themes.
If you’re looking for a definitive answer, you’re probably not going to find one. The fun is in the light-hearted debate.
